BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES PLANS TO RELEASE 'PAX IMPERIA 2'

Two Leading Software Companies Team Up To Offer
Sequel To `Best Strategy Game of 1993'

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- At the Consumer Electronics Show this weekend, Blizzard Entertainment and Changeling Software announced plans to jointly develop "Pax Imperia 2," the sequel to Changeling's award-winning space strategy game, "Pax Imperia." The game will be available under the Blizzard label by Christmas 1995. The original "Pax Imperia," which released for the Macintosh in 1993, received industry-wide acclaim including the induction to MacWorld magazine's Game Hall of Fame as the year's best strategy game.

"Pax Imperia 2" is a real-time space strategy adventure that casts each player as the leader of a galactic empire on the verge of expansion. As players build their empire, they must manage all facets of their expanding civilization -- exploring and colonizing alien star systems and planets, allocating natural resources, overseeing foreign affairs, engaging in combat, and developing new technologies. The game includes a multi-player option that allows up to 16 human or computer opponents; advanced map-generation technology to enable players to view and colonize thousands of different planetary surfaces; and an advisory feature that provides players access to information vital to managing their empire.

"Pax Imperia 2" will be available in Macintosh and Windows CD-ROM formats at most computer and software retail chains nationwide for approximately $45 to $50 by Christmas 1995.

Said Allen Adham, president and founder of Blizzard Entertainment, "We are excited to team up with Changeling to create a sequel to `Pax Imperia,' which we consider a great game. As we jointly develop `Pax Imperia 2,' we will work closely with Changeling to build on `Pax Imperia's' superb game design and to expand the game's market to both the Macintosh and Windows environments."

Adds Andrew Sispoidis, chief executive officer for Changeling Software, "`Pax Imperia 2' retains `Pax Imperia's' features, scope and strategic elegance, while incorporating the latest in gaming technology. Fans of "Pax Imperia" will enjoy game enhancements such as a more interactive ship-to-ship combat system, a streamlined user interface, and easier and more complete access to information necessary for managing empires."
